How to Cancel Your Uber One Membership Guide

Understanding Uber One Membership and Why You Might Want to Cancel

Uber One is a paid membership program that combines Uber Pass and Uber Eats Pass into one subscription. As of 2024, the membership costs $9.99 per month for most members, though pricing may vary by location. The program offers benefits like discounted rides on Uber, reduced delivery fees on Uber Eats orders, and other perks designed to save regular users money over time.

Members receive discounts on Uber rides, typically between 5% and 10% depending on your city and ride type. On Uber Eats, members save on delivery fees, which often run between $2 and $4 per order. Some users also receive discounts on certain food items through the Eats portion of the membership. Certain memberships include access to Priority Support, though this varies by location.

People choose to cancel Uber One for various reasons. Some find they don't use Uber or Uber Eats frequently enough to justify the monthly cost. Others may prefer using different transportation or food delivery services. Rising membership costs, changes to benefits, or moving to an area where the service isn't available also prompt cancellations. Additionally, if you're experiencing financial constraints or simply want to reduce monthly subscriptions, canceling this membership is a straightforward decision.

Before canceling, you might consider whether you're actually saving money with the membership. If you spend less than $10 per month on Uber rides and Uber Eats delivery combined, the membership likely isn't providing value. Keep track of your spending for a month or two to make an informed decision.

Practical Takeaway: Track your actual Uber and Uber Eats spending over several weeks to determine whether the $9.99 monthly fee represents a real savings for your usage patterns. If you're not consistently spending enough to offset the membership cost, cancellation makes financial sense.

Locating Your Uber Account Settings and Membership Information

To cancel your Uber One membership, you first need to find where it's managed within your Uber account. The process differs slightly depending on whether you're using the mobile app or a web browser, but both methods lead to the same cancellation screens.

On the Uber mobile app, start by opening the app and tapping the account icon, which typically appears as a person's silhouette in the lower right corner of the screen. This takes you to your account menu. From there, look for an option labeled "Uber One," "Membership," or "Subscriptions." The exact label may vary depending on your app version and location. Once you find this section, you'll see details about your current membership status, including your subscription price and next billing date.

If you're using a web browser, visit uber.com and log into your account using your email address or phone number. Click on the account menu, typically found in the upper right corner of the page. Look for a "Payments" or "Subscriptions" section. From there, you should see your Uber One membership listed along with any other active subscriptions you might have with Uber.

Your membership information screen shows important details like your monthly cost, the date your next charge will occur, and sometimes a list of benefits you're currently receiving. Write down or take a screenshot of your next billing date before proceeding with cancellation. This information helps you confirm that your cancellation took effect before that date, preventing an unwanted charge.

Some users report that their membership section appears under different names depending on their account age or region. If you can't immediately find it under "Membership," try searching for "Subscriptions," "Uber One," or "Passes." If you still can't locate it, you may need to verify you're logged into the correct account, as some people manage multiple Uber accounts.

Practical Takeaway: Take a screenshot of your membership information page showing your next billing date before canceling. This documentation protects you if a charge appears after cancellation and you need to dispute it.

Step-by-Step Process for Canceling Through the Mobile App

The mobile app provides the quickest method for most users to cancel their Uber One membership. The process typically takes less than two minutes and requires only a few taps.

Start by opening your Uber app and navigating to your account settings. Tap the person icon at the bottom right of your screen. You'll see a menu with options like "Wallet," "Settings," and "Help." Look for "Uber One" or "Membership" in this menu. If you don't see it immediately, scroll down as these options sometimes appear further down the list. Once you tap on Uber One or Membership, the app displays your current subscription details, including how much you pay monthly and when your next billing date occurs.

On the membership details page, locate a button or link that says "Manage Membership," "Manage Subscription," "Cancel Membership," or "Cancel Subscription." The exact wording varies by app version and region, but the function remains the same. Tap this button. The app may then ask you why you're canceling—options typically include "I don't use this service," "Too expensive," or "I prefer another service." Selecting one of these reasons is optional, but Uber may use this feedback to improve their offerings. None of your responses affect whether your cancellation will process.

After selecting a reason (or skipping this step), the app displays a confirmation message stating that your Uber One membership will be canceled. Read this message carefully to confirm it says your membership will end at your next billing date or immediately, depending on Uber's current policy. A button labeled "Confirm," "Yes, Cancel," or "Cancel Membership" appears next. Tap it to finalize your cancellation.

You should receive an on-screen confirmation stating your membership has been canceled. The app typically displays this confirmation message, and many users also receive a confirmation email. Save any confirmation numbers or messages you receive. After cancellation, your membership benefits end on the date shown in the confirmation message—usually your next billing date. Return to the membership section of your app after a few minutes; it should now show "Membership Inactive" or allow you to reactivate rather than manage an active subscription.

Practical Takeaway: Immediately after canceling, take a screenshot of the confirmation message. If you're ever charged after cancellation, this screenshot serves as proof that you canceled before the charge date.

Canceling Your Membership Using the Web Browser Method

If you prefer managing your account through a computer or simply want an alternative to the app, you can cancel your Uber One membership through the web browser version of your Uber account. This method works identically across all devices—computers, tablets, and phones.

Open your web browser and navigate to uber.com. Look for a "Log In" button, typically located in the upper right corner of the page. Enter your email address or phone number and your password. If you have two-factor authentication enabled on your account (which is recommended for security), you'll need to enter a verification code sent to your phone or email before proceeding.

Once logged in, locate your account menu by clicking on your profile icon or the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) in the upper right or left corner, depending on your browser. The menu displays options like "Account," "Payments," "Settings," and sometimes "Subscriptions." Click on "Payments" or "Subscriptions"—this section displays all active subscriptions tied to your account, including Uber One.

On the payments or subscriptions page, find Uber One listed among your active subscriptions. It should show your monthly price and a button or link next to it. Common button labels include "Manage," "Edit," "Change," or "Cancel." Click this button. The page then displays your membership details and options. Look for a "Cancel Membership" or "Cancel Subscription" button or link. Click it to proceed.

A confirmation dialog typically appears asking if you're sure you want to cancel. This dialog may also include a text box asking why you're canceling. The reason you provide is optional feedback for Uber and doesn't affect whether your cancellation processes. After confirming your cancellation, the website displays a confirmation message. Write down or screenshot any confirmation number, the cancellation date, and the date when your membership will become inactive.

Return to the subscriptions page a few moments later and refresh your browser. Your Uber One membership should no longer appear in your active subscriptions list, or it should
